It provides an antidepressant that is safe for prolonged ingestion with minimal side effects.
This invention provides; (1) ginkgo leaf extracts containing over 4% of total quercetin 3-O-β-D-glucosyl-(1,2)-α-L-rhamnoside and quercetin 3-O-(6-p-coumaroyl)-β-D-glucosyl-(1,2)-α-L-rhamnoside deriving from ginkgo leaves, (2) compositions (food, dietary supplements, food additives, or pharmaceutical products) containing ginkgo leaf extracts with antidepressant effects, and (3) method of treatment of major depressive disorders using ginkgo leaf extracts.
